The short answer

JunkRabbit charges a flat price per item, or a flat truck-fill tier for bigger loads, across Providence and the surrounding towns. Common items: sofa $126, queen mattress $103, refrigerator $164, washer $133, dresser $126. Truck tiers run from a quarter truck at $241 to a full truck at $732. The minimum order is $100, and there is no stairs fee.

How the list works

Each item has one price. That price includes the crew coming into the home, carrying the item out from whatever floor it is on, loading it and disposing of it. In a city of triple-deckers with rear stairs and New England basements, that carry-out is most of the work, and it is already inside the number.

You see the total before you book, either by picking items online or by sending a photo for an instant quote. The price only changes if you approve a change, for example if you add something on the day.

The same list applies whether you are on College Hill or in Cranston, Pawtucket, Warwick or across the line in Fall River or Attleboro. There is no stairs fee, no walk-up fee and no same-day surcharge. There are also no volume discounts; for bigger loads, the truck-fill tiers usually work out lower than adding items one by one.

The minimum order is $100. Items listed below that, such as a TV or a coffee table, bill at $100 on their own, and at their list price once they are part of a bigger order.

Sofas, chairs and living room

ItemFlat price
Sofa / Couch$126
Loveseat$119
Sleeper Sofa$149
Reclining / Power Sofa$152
Sectional Sofa (2-Piece)$141
Sectional Sofa (3-Piece)$185
Sectional Sofa (4+ Piece)$228
Sectional Sofa (5-6 Piece)$271
Recliner$98
Armchair / Accent Chair$77
Coffee Table$67
Entertainment Center / TV Stand$96
Bookshelf$72

Sofas and sectionals are the items most often stuck on a triple-decker landing. They come apart into their pieces or lose their legs to clear the turn, and the price stays the same. Sleeper sofas are priced higher than standard sofas because the steel mechanism inside makes them much heavier. A living room of sofa, recliner and coffee table is $126 + $98 + $67 = $291.

Bedroom and mattresses

Mattress — Twin$82
Mattress — Full / Double$94
Mattress — Queen$103
Mattress — King / Cal King$114
Box Spring (Any Size)$92
Mattress + Box Spring Set$143

Bed Frame (Solid / Upholstered) — Twin / Full / Queen$126
Dresser (Standard)$126
Dresser (Large / Double)$148
Nightstand$57
Bunk Bed$123

Mattresses matter more in Providence than in most cities, because the city's free bulky pickup excludes them. The alternatives are a Saturday-morning drop-off at DPW on Allens Avenue, two per visit with a Providence ID, or a paid curbside pickup that requires bagging. A pickup takes them from the bedroom as they are. A queen set and a metal frame together are $143 + $68 = $211.

Appliances

Stove / Oven / Range (Electric)$134
Dishwasher$109
Water Heater (Tank)$131
Window AC Unit (Small, under 8k BTU)$87
Freezer (Chest)$146

Washers, dryers and water heaters in Providence are usually in the basement, often a shared triple-decker basement with a steep wooden stair. The carry up that stair is included. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners contain refrigerant, which federal rules require to be recovered before scrapping, so they are handled separately from ordinary junk. A laundry pair is $133 + $128 = $261.

Electronics, outdoor and heavy items

TV (65 in+)$73
Computer Monitor$58
Box of Electronics$77
Snow Blower$71
Lawn Mower$65
Propane Grill$123
Treadmill$115
Upright Piano$364
Hot Tub / Spa$390
Cast Iron Radiator$123
Bathtub (cast iron)$185

Rhode Island bans e-waste from the trash, so TVs and monitors need a proper route either way. Snow blowers and lawn mowers are the two halves of a New England garage. Cast iron radiators and tubs come out of older houses during renovations and are among the heaviest items on the list; the price reflects the weight and the carry, not the floor.

Truck-fill tiers for cleanouts

Load sizeFlat price
1/4 truck (~4 cubic yards)$241
3/8 truck (~6 cubic yards)$338
1/2 truck (~8 cubic yards)$431
5/8 truck (~10 cubic yards)$513
3/4 truck (~12 cubic yards)$587
7/8 truck (~14 cubic yards)$661
Full truck (~16 cubic yards)$732

Use the truck tiers for a mixed pile, a basement, an attic or an apartment. A packed triple-decker basement often lands around half a truck. A full furnished apartment is closer to three-quarters or a full truck. If one load is not enough, the next is priced on the same tiers, for example a full truck plus a quarter truck is $732 + $241 = $973. Photos of each room or corner let the quote pick the right tier.

Worked Providence examples

Brown move-out, College Hill: full mattress, desk and bookshelf, $94 + $83 + $72 = $249.

Federal Hill third floor: sofa, queen set and dresser, $126 + $143 + $126 = $395, the same as from the ground floor.

Pawtucket basement: washer, dryer and water heater, $133 + $128 + $131 = $392.

Cranston garage: mixed tools, bikes and boxes filling about a quarter truck, $241.

Warwick estate: a full house of contents, often a full truck at $732 or more.

No. Carry-out from any floor is included, including third-floor triple-decker walk-ups and basements.

Are these prices the same outside Providence?

Yes. The same list applies in Pawtucket, Cranston, Warwick, East Providence, Newport, Fall River, New Bedford and the other towns we serve.

How do I know which truck tier I need?

Send a photo for an instant quote. You see the tier and the price before booking, and it only changes if you approve a change.
