Providence Junk Removal Prices

Every item carries a fixed price. The climb to a third-floor apartment, the rear porch stairs and the run to the landfill in Johnston are already inside it.

These are the items people ask about most. The quote page holds the full list.

Providence Price List

Item / loadPrice
Sofa / Couch$126
Loveseat$119
Queen Mattress$103
Box Spring$92
Refrigerator$164
Dresser$126
TV (42–65")$68
Desk$83
Truck-Fill (1/4 · 4 cu yd)$241
Truck-Fill (Full · 16 cu yd)$732
Minimum order: $100. You see the whole number before a truck is booked — no hidden fees.

What the Price Covers

  • Two-person crew and loading
  • Third-floor walk-ups and back stairs
  • Shared basements and attics
  • No bagging a mattress first
  • Landfill and recycling charges
  • Donation and e-waste drop-offs

Big Jobs Go by the Truckload

Emptying an entire apartment or a packed basement is simpler to price by volume. The truck holds sixteen cubic yards: $241 covers a quarter of it, $431 half and $732 the whole box. Your quote runs both methods — piece by piece and by volume — and charges whichever total is lower.

Snap one photo from the landing — the price is back before you’re down the stairs.

How a Providence Pickup Works

1

1. Take a photo

One armchair or an attic full of a former tenant’s things — every piece is recognized and priced from the Providence list.

2

2. Pick a time

Add anything the photo missed and choose a slot that fits the lease, the closing or the move, whatever day your trash goes out.

3

3. Carried down, sorted

An insured local crew brings it all down and out, then sends it to donation, a recycler or the landfill.

JunkRabbit Services Around Providence

Every service page lists Providence prices, the local pickup rules that apply and the questions people ask:

Built for Triple-Deckers

Most triple-deckers went up in the industrial cities of central New England between 1870 and 1920 — one apartment per floor, with rear porches and a back staircase. They still define Providence, Pawtucket, Central Falls, Woonsocket, Fall River and New Bedford.

Third-Floor Walk-Ups

The top-floor tenant’s couch has two flights and a tight turn between it and the street. That carry is the work, and it’s in the price.

Pawtucket move-outs →

Back Stairs and Porches

Narrow rear stairs are often the only way out that doesn’t mean squeezing a dresser through the front hall. Crews use whichever route protects the house.

Fall River tenements →

Shared Basements

Three units, one basement, and decades of things nobody claims. Landlords send a photo and we clear it in one visit.

Olneyville buildings →

Attics Under the Eaves

Old trunks, broken chairs and boxes that came with the building. The crew brings them down, and usable pieces go to donation.

The City’s Bulky Pickup vs. Calling a Hauler

Providence’s Department of Public Works spells out its bulky-item rules, and they’re worth reading before you book anyone.

Six Units or Fewer

Free bulky pickup through Waste Management covers only buildings with six or fewer units. Larger buildings get no city trash service at all, so landlords there hire their own haulers.

Book a Day Ahead

Pickups are scheduled at least 24 hours before your trash day, and items can’t go out before the night before.

Mattresses Excluded

The free program won’t take mattresses. Residents can drop two per Saturday visit at the DPW yard with a Providence ID, or pay for a bagged curbside pickup.

No Electronics in the Trash

Rhode Island law keeps TVs, monitors and laptops out of the trash. They go to a scheduled e-waste pickup, a recycling event or a hauler who recycles them.

If you have one chair, live in a building of six units or fewer and can get it to the curb, the city program costs you nothing and is the better choice. If it’s a mattress, it’s on the third floor, your building is bigger, or it has to go this week, that’s the job we do. Cranston runs its own periodic free bulky-waste pickups; the other towns and the Massachusetts and Connecticut communities each set their own rules.

College Move-Out Weeks

Brown has been on College Hill since 1770, and RISD, Providence College, Johnson & Wales, the University of Rhode Island and UMass Dartmouth all empty out apartments in the same two windows: mid-May at the end of the spring term and late August before classes start.

What Fills the Truck in May

  • Futons and hand-me-down couches
  • Twin and full mattresses
  • Desks, chairs and bookshelves
  • Mini fridges and microwaves
  • TVs and monitors (recycled)
  • Whatever the last tenant left behind
i
Move-out week fills up fast on the East Side and in Elmhurst. Book as soon as your lease end date is set.

Sorted, Not Dumped

Reusable furniture is set aside for donation. Fridges go to refrigerant recovery, electronics to recyclers, and mattresses into Rhode Island’s mattress recycling program.

Sorting costs nothing extra.

Split It With Roommates

Put the whole apartment on one quote and divide the total however your group likes.

Providence Junk Removal FAQs

How much does junk removal cost in Providence?

It’s priced from your photo. For reference: a sofa runs $126, a queen mattress $103, a refrigerator $164 and a mid-size TV $68. Larger jobs run from $241 for a quarter truck to $732 for a full load, with a $100 minimum.

Does Providence pick up furniture for free?

Yes, through Waste Management, if your building has six units or fewer and you schedule at least a day before trash day. Mattresses aren’t included, and buildings with seven or more units don’t get city service.

Why won’t the city take my mattress?

Mattresses are excluded from the free bulky program. The options are the DPW Saturday drop-off, two per visit with a Providence ID, a paid curbside pickup that requires bagging, or a crew like ours that carries it out as it is.

Can you get things down from a third-floor apartment?

Yes. Front stairs, back stairs and rear porches are all part of the flat price.

Is an old TV allowed in Rhode Island household trash?

Not in Rhode Island — state law bans electronics like TVs, monitors and laptops from the trash. We pick them up and take them to a recycler.

Do you cover Fall River, Attleboro and the Connecticut towns?

Yes. The service area runs across Rhode Island and into southeastern Massachusetts — Fall River, New Bedford, Taunton, Attleboro, Franklin — and Connecticut’s Quiet Corner, including Killingly and Putnam.

Ready to Clear the Third Floor?

Send a photo and see the flat price in seconds — from $100, from Woonsocket to Newport and Putnam to New Bedford.

No six-unit limit, no bagging, and no waiting for trash day.
